Welcome to
Cultural Online Learning Organization & Resource (COLOR) Afterschool Program (CAP)

Homepage

This virtual school was founded with the aim of providing children of color and other educationally disadvantaged children, with interactive learning opportunities from a cultural and environmental perspective, via the Internet. Please note that children of color are as smart as other kids and we don't want children or adults to equate or confuse "educationally disadvantaged" with "intellectually challenged." However, there is very little in common between public and private schools and children of color, who are bombarded with the lives and histories of Europeans in classrooms and society. This results in a low sense of self worth or self-esteem, lack of self confidence, and resistance to formal education among students of color. COLOR was founded to address these vital issues of social and cultural learning through online education in the hope of raising the self esteem of our children and communities.

CAP provides a safe environment for children of color learning and self-exploration on the Internet. Sites linked from CAP are carefully selected. There is lots to see and discover here, so take a look around our virtual campus by sampling the following three schools:

COLOR AfterSchool Program Profile

COLOR Afterschool Program is founded in part on the educational philosophy of the Open School, where an emphasis is placed on freedom and explorations of one's interests. CAP views the education of the whole child as a process of learning about one's self, culture and environment, that is, learning how to learn.
